Te Papapa Squash

Te Papapa Squash became an addition to the Club in 1974 with the construction of three squash courts. While it began as a way for rugby players to get some off-season training, it was not too long before the squash section of the Club began to hold it's own and soon boasted members in the hundreds.

Our open day this year is on Saturday the 18th of March.
From 10am to 6pm we will be hosting the final round of the first club competition of the year, there will be demo's, spot prizes for the entrants, a bbq, and a chance for you to check out what we have to offer!

Squash Membership
All members have access to the courts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using a keytag entry system that also operates the Court lights so that you can play.  We have three courts and are planning on installing an online booking system this year, but until then we have a first in first served policy. However if the courts are full and people are waiting, we ask that you complete your game within the 45 minute slot, and allow the next players to get on Court.

We offer three kinds of memberships:
Junior - for kids in primary or secondary school.
Casual - for those just wanting to have a hit with their mates and keep it informal.
Graded - for those who want to get graded or continue playing as a graded player, this also allows you to play interclub or enter the many different competitions in Auckland around New Zealand, including superchamps, Masters and Open competitions.

Membership Cost
Junior: $100
Casual: $220
Graded: $280

Couples that sign up get 10% off their second membership.
Our membership period runs from March to March, if you start your membership part way through this period the cost will be adjusted to reflect this.

Opportunities to Play

Interclub:
Graded players can become members of a team which then hosts and goes to the other clubs in the Auckland district. This happens on Monday or Tuesday nights from 7pm, when we host we cater for our visitors and when we travel the host club looks after us.  If you are interested in playing interclub this year, please let us know, it kicks off 13 March so let us know well before then if you want to play. Get more detail from the Auckland Squash site here.

Business House:
This is a competition which operates on Thursday nights at 7pm and starts this year on Thursday the 9th of March.
You get to form a team of 4 or more, and four of your team will play against another team of four. The games last 20 minutes, without breaks, with a point for every rally.  Your team members do not have to be members of the Club, casual or graded.
This is a great format for work teams looking for sport to do together or friends wanting to try the game out.
Each team has to pay $200 to register a team each 10 week term, and this cost is split between the team members.
There are bar snacks and an open bar during Business House nights.

Junior Friday Nights:
All Junior players are welcome to come play on Friday nights, for non-members there is a gold-coin donation/fee.
This program runs during the regular school term on Friday nights from 6pm to 8pm.  We supply the racquets and balls, all that your child needs to bring are a pair of non-marking shoes.

Club Champs/Te Papapa Invitational:
This year we will be hosting competitions at our club on these dates:
March 15 - 18 (Wednesday - Saturday)
October 25 - 28 (Wednesday - Saturday)

These competitions are open to all members, juniors, casual and graded, as well as their friends, family or others who they wish to invite from other other clubs.

During 2016 we had three teams in each of the interclub seasons Autumn, Winter and Spring.
We hosted a business house tournament for four terms which featured 4-6 teams per round.
